As humans, we tend to make things much more complicated than they need to be. God reminds us in Micah 6:8 to keep things simple.
God doesn't require anything from us other than our faith in Him. We love Him. We obey Him out of that love and we worship Him all out of that love. It's that simple, believe and love God (Acts 16:31, Matthew 22:37)
In Micah 6, the Israelites have forgotten that God does not require a lot of flash and ritual. They are scrambling to find ways to please God in their own way, but really all He wants is for the Israelites to stay focused on Him, have faith in Him and love Him. If they do that first, all else will follow. You please the Lord when you seek Him first; there's no need to do anything else. Everything else will fall in place.
Keep it simple. God just wants you to come to Him. Whatever you feel you need to do to come to Him, do so. Micah shows that God doesn't have a check-off list. Don't look for ways to please God in ritual and sacraments. Just come to Him, live life justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him.
