Knowing God

Have you ever contemplated your relationship with God? Here are some thoughts on the topic from author Bruce Atchison.

“It sure is wonderful that we can know God rather than know about him. Knowing means a relationship. It’s much deeper than knowing about somebody. We hear about many famous and infamous people in the news but we don’t know them personally. We can’t just call them on the phone and chat or send them an e-mail that they’ll answer.

Our God is mysterious but he has condescended to let us know his love. It’s like me and my rabbit Deborah. She doesn’t know much about me but she knows that I feed and pet her. She knows that when I take her litter box away, it’s going to come back with fresh litter and new hay for her to eat. Though I sometimes have a “mean” lady come over and clip her claws, Deborah trusts me. I want the best for her and she means so much to me.”

But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,  Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ. (Ephesians 2:4,5a, AMP)

Prayer – Thank you for knowing us, Dear Wonderful God! Amen
