That’s today, the one common holiday that we celebrate across North America. All retail stores, banks, and libraries are closed while seasonal attractions and some restaurant and convenience stores may be open.
The holiday is meant for everyone but not everyone takes it. It reminds me of these verses:
The promise to enter the place of rest is still good, and we must take care that none of you miss out. We have heard the message, just as they did. But they failed to believe what they heard, and the message did not do them any good.
Only people who have faith will enter the place of rest. It is just as the Scriptures say. (Hebrews 4:1-3, CEV)
Surely you don’t want to miss out?
We should do our best to enter that place of rest, so that none of us will disobey and miss going there. (Hebrews 4:11, CEV)
Prayer – Lord, your place of rest is so much more than a one day holiday. Thanks for giving us the choice to be a part of it. For Christ. Amen
