Loud Speaker

“The Lord doesn’t need a microphone. But you and everyone else does!” – Author Ray Wiseman, overheard at the 2015 Word Guild conference.

At any and every event, there is always someone who takes mike in hand and bellows out. “Can you all hear me? I don’t think I need this thing.”

The truth is we all do. Our voices do not carry well and we might as well suck it up and use the mike because otherwise we will just be talking to ourselves.

The Lord on the other hand, speaks clearly, even when he whispers. Then the problem is on the other end. Are we willing to listen?

Or are we like Adam who heard and hid?

He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” (Genesis 3:10, NIV)

Or do we simply not obey when God says things like this?

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:43-44, NIV)

Surely we will listen this way.

Whoever has ears, let them hear. (Matthew 11:15, NIV)

Prayer – Lord, we offer you our ears and our full attention from this day forward. Amen
