God gave me this verse when my husband was first diagnosed with cancer.
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life… (Deuteronomy 30:19-20b)
We decided to choose life by living and celebrating every day as a gift from God, which of course it is. The Lord himself is our life. We must be willing to let go of the life we planned for ourselves, to have the life that is waiting for us. (Joseph Campbell)
Looking back all these years later, I understand that in spite of our grief, we did that. Was it easy? No, but we did it anyway, one step at a time.
I just saw an ad that touted…Add life to wherever you live. I think we have done that in spite of our grief. You can too.
It’s Remembrance Day here in Canada. Lots of grief to go around, but lots of living to do as well.
