Marry, Marry Quite Contrary

“Many a man in love with a dimple makes the mistake of marrying the whole girl”– Canadian humorist Stephen Leacock

Just in case you have a dimple crush, check out the advice below.

Marry for love.

Marry someone you like to talk to (and pray they also like to listen!)

Be engaged at least six months before even considering marriage.

Don’t judge your dimpled one by their relatives (but use the relatives as a clue!)

Be prepared to give 100% to the relationship at all times.

All those lines offer some help but the true test is whether or not that would-be spouse knows and loves and is prepared to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s not make the same mistake as Solomon, whose spouses drew him away from God.

1 Kings 11:1-3-Now King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which the Lordhad said to the people of Israel, “You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart (NSV).

Prayer: Lord when we love with an earthly love, we make mistakes. Help us never choose anyone or anything over you. For Christ’s Sake. Amen.
