Mother’s Day Gifts

With Mother’s Day on the horizon, my friend expected the usual candy or flowers. Her little ones were so excited that they offered their carefully chosen gift a day early.

Their enthusiasm stirred up my friend’s too. She opened her present with excessive anticipation, immediately followed by an astonished let down. The three children had pooled their change and bought her….. An aluminium foil pizza pan.

“Don’t you love it, Mommy? Isn’t it just what you wanted? We knew as soon as we saw it….”

You see, every time my friend made pizza, she used a cookie sheet for the baking pan. She never failed to complain long and loud about this tragedy. The children had repeatedly heard words like this. “Oh, the crust would be crispier if I only had a pizza pan.”  “It’s burnt because I don’t have the right pan.” “If only I had a proper pan, the cheese would melt more evenly.” And the children heard and delivered exactly what she asked for.

Are we wailing for cheap pizza pans while angels wait for the sound of His Word so that they can give us God’s best?

Psalm 103:20- Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word (AMP)

Matthew 7:9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  (NIV)

Prayer: Lord, thanks for reminding us that when it comes to words….Yours never fail. Amen.
