I’m waiting for my new glasses. The old ones worked fine last year but my eyes changed up (or down!) and I need better sight aids. Time should change our sight.
At one time the Galatians would have ripped out their own eyes for Paul.
For I bear you witness that you would have torn out your own eyes and have given them to me to replace mine, if that were possible. (Galatians 4:15b)
Somewhere their spiritual vision had blurred.
What has become of that blessed enjoyment and satisfaction and self-congratulation that once was yours in what I taught you and in your regard for me? (Galatians 4:15a)
Maybe they needed glasses. After all, glasses fix blurry visions caused by astigmatism, and far and nearsightedness. Paul offers just that in Galatians 5:1.
In freedom Christ has made us free and completely liberated us; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery which you have once put off.
I pray that our vision improves and that we see and understand God’s plan for us and that we run toward it.
