Not My Mum

It irks me when a husband refuses to give the mother of his children a Mother’s Day present or even a card.

“You aren’t my mother,” says the Dad who is happy enough to take a gift when Fathers Day shows up.

Listen up, Dad.

The mother of your children suffered through nine months of an array of ailments like nausea, cramps, bloating and swollen feet. She couldn’t wear her clothes or even tie her shoes and yet you have the nerve to say…you are not my mother…!

The foolish man seems not to realize that without that woman who is ‘not his mother’ he would not be a dad. It is time to appreciate all mothers, yes even the mother of your own children.

Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. “Honor your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, “so you will live well and have a long life.” (Ephesians 6:2-3, MSG)

Prayer- Lord, thanks for the reminder to be thankful for all things, especially mothers and yes for the life they give. Amen.
