A Debt Paid in Full

A few years ago, when my husband and I first made the decision to be debt-free, it took some time to get used to the idea. We are completely debt-free now, except for our mortgage. We don't carry a balance on anything. In fact, we were a one car family for almost three years because we had made the decision to be debt-free and we were not going to finance a car. We learned if we didn't have it, we didn't need it and if we needed it, God would provide it.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

One debt we can never repay, though, is the debt of our sin.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (NIV)

The good part of this is we don't have to. The gift of salvation through the shedding of Christ's blood on the cross, the give of eternal life through Jesus Christ, , it's a free gift to all who would receive it.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17 (NIV)

Jesus saves and  it's free. Debt, paid in full.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36 (NIV)
