Green flashing lines popped up on my screen announcing that my computer was undergoing a Hardware Diagnostic Tools scheduled maintenance. Who on earth scheduled it? Not me! Anyway the computer passed with flying colors. What a relief!
We tend to panic when tested but we are in good company. Jesus faced tests from hypocrites (Matthew 22:18), lawyers (Matthew 22:35), and Pharisees (Matthew 19:3). The Holy Spirit actually led Him into a place where He spent the next forty days being tested by the devil.
Then Jesus, full of and controlled by the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led in [by] the [Holy] Spirit For (during) forty days in the wilderness (desert), where He was tempted (tried, tested exceedingly) by the devil. (Matthew 4:1-2a, AMP)
The kind of test doesn’t matter. What matters is that we pass it.
Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him. (James 1:12, AMP)
Prayer–Lord, when You test us, may we come forth as gold because our feet followed in your foot steps and never turned from Your way. Amen. (Job 23:10-11, NIV)
