Pink Elephant Principle

Philippians 4:8-9Summing it all up, friends, Id say youll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, graciousthe best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise and not to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God who makes all things work together will work you into his most excellent harmonies. (MSG)

The Pink Elephant Principle is simple. Dear Readers, let’s  close our eyes and see pink elephants playing tag on the plains of Africa, pink elephants treading water in the river and pink elephants playing catch with falling coconuts! Now, stop thinking of pink elephants! Ha! Gotcha! It’s impossible!

Now think of purple polka-dotted giraffes racing across grassy slopes and sliding down mountains. What happened to those pink elephants? All gone!

Negative thoughts become obsessions that take over our lives. We can think on pink elephants or choose instead to dwell on polka-dotted giraffes, that is, positive, Godly thoughts. How our lives will change!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, forgive us for negative hearts, minds and mouths. Today, we look for the true and the gracious by dwelling on your love for us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
