Poison

We’ve been having a little line trouble at our house lately. The telephone line has a buzz and the computer line is not hooking me up to the web properly. May I be totally honest with you? I’ve been having some spiritual line trouble too.

Because I haven’t been seriously meeting with God for the last few days, I find myself living with ruthless abandon in some areas of my life. I’ve snapped at family once or twice and grumbled at the slow clerk in the grocery. My weight loss plan has gone to pot, and I mean that literally! It’s a good job we don’t have a pet. I might have felt like kicking it.

1 Thessalonians 5:14-And we earnestly beseech you, brethren, admonish (warn and seriously advise) those who are out of line [the loafers, the disorderly, and the unruly]; encourage the timid and fainthearted, help and give your support to the weak souls, [and] be very patient with everybody [always keeping your temper]. (AMP)

And all of this comes because the real me, the one that does not lean on God, has appeared out of nowhere. It is the real me that I like to think has disappeared. But it has not. The real Brenda pops up every day that I don’t connect with God in a meaningful way. On good days, I call her the Old Brenda. On bad days like this, I call her ‘Poison.’  I want her gone.

Did ‘Poison’ show at your house today too?

Let’s ditch ‘Poison’ together. The antidote for our miserable situation is found in Galatians 5:25

If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, we know what our problem is and we know how to fix it, still we hesitate. Forgive us. Nudge us toward the cure. You. Amen
