Somewhere during the church service, I thought “Take her some soup.” I tossed the notion out of my head immediately but it wouldn’t stay there. Repeatedly throughout the service, it kept popping back into my head.
I thought it was a silly idea. She’d had colds before, missed church before. It was a bit of a drive for me. Anyway, I finally decided to do it. After all I had the bowl of homemade soup that my neighbor gave to me the day before.
Of course she was surprised to see me. I gave her the soup and drove home to this message on my answering machine.
“I want to tell you how God answers prayer. I felt so sick and I was hungry. I told God that I wished I had some homemade soup. And then you came to my door. Thanks, my friend!”
So someone felt that they should make a pot of soup and share it. Another told that a friend was ill. I obeyed even though I felt foolish doing it. But most of all, someone asked God for a bowl of soup.
James 4:2b-You do not have, because you do not ask (AMP).
Prayer: Father, forgive us for not trusting you enough to ask for what we need. In Christ. Amen.
