Fabric only wants to go where it leads, but occasionally steaming it with a hot iron presses it into positions you want it to go. Pressing works even when all seams (pun intended!) impossible.
Have you ever struggled to move on when all seemed impossible? Ever been pressed down by disease, marriage troubles, deserting children, financial starvation or whatever? Who hasn’t?
On the other hand, when we are the ones doing the pressing, with God’s help, we can turn things around.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13b-14, NIV)
