I was warned that the surgery results could be bad. The cancer would be removed, but my face might be seriously disfigured. Since I am a public speaker, this was devastating news and I expected the worst. Refusing to let me sit home and mope, my husband dragged me to a Shiloh concert. Their worshipful scripture-based music soothed my heart and helped calm my fears. My depression lifted and, once again, my heart was able to hear God’s voice offering peace and comfort.
Even the prophet Elisha needed a little tune to get him into a better frame of mind. Is our CD, tape, radio, MP3 turned on yet? When our hearts are too heavy to praise God with our own lips, let’s remember that God has gifted many others with the ability to help us do that. Eventually, we will be able to carry the tune ourselves, but in the meantime, let’s hum along with the songs of another.

Shiloh… is that the same band that a man named Les Welsh played with? I know him from the Salvation Army. He asked me to join the band once as a dancer. I thought he was joking. A few years later he told me he was serious. LOL
