Public Ministry

Finally, we see Jesus publicly again as he comes to John to be baptized.  (Luke 3:23)

One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized.

As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove.

And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”

Matthew chooses this moment to record Jesus’ lineage, from his worldly father Joseph right back to Adam and then God. Kenan was the son of Enosh, Enosh was the son of Seth. Seth was the son of Adam. Adam was the son of God.

Follow this thought into 1 Corinthians 15:45-48

The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit. What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven

We are born as physical beings, but when we accept Christ as our Savior, we inherit the spiritual Christ.
