When we were invited to bring tarts to the social event, my friend popped chocolate filling into raw tart shells. Ugh. Food poisoning disaster! That’s how we treat new Christian celebrities. We throw their untaught bodies in front of a TV screen to share their faith…and shortly after, we hear that they have fallen or perhaps even walked away from Jesus.
That is so unfair to a new believer. They know little or nothing about faith. They just know this.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
(John 8:32)
They are truly free, but they don’t know how to live this new faith.
Desire without knowledge is not good. Whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.
(Proverbs 19:2)
New believers need mentors to guide them.
Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance,
(Proverbs 1:5)
Are you willing to spend time with a new believer? Do you seek them out to guide them in love, toward the full truth of the Gospel?
After all, faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
(Romans 10:17)
