Through this interesting season of house living, I have cleaned out, thrown out or given away fabrics, doodads and paper…oh, especially paper!
I saved all sorts of notes on basic living, when I was at that stage of my life. For instance, computer hints scribbled on handouts I now take for granted and do not refer to the paper anymore.
Would you believe I once needed notes on how to highlight, copy or transfer a message? Of course, you would because you used to be there too. We were learning new things and we needed step by step instructions.
Now we do all that and more because it has become second nature to us. I suppose that’s how we learned to walk too. Step by step, teetering near a coffee table, tottering on our tippy toes.
Now we set up our own web pages, run businesses from our home office and write and publish our own books!
Isn’t that how life works with God too? Once we didn’t know him at all. Then we took the wobbly step to ask himionto our life, forgive our sins, help us walk in a Godly way.
Perhaps we think we don’t need God’s instruction book anymore. Beware friends. The Word continually speaks to us in new ways if we will but let it.
“The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10, MSG)
Prayer- Lord show us a new thing today as we read your Word into our hearts. Amen.
