Writers are used to rejection letters. We join the ranks of the band U2, artist Andy Warhol and film maker Tim Burton. Everybody gets rejected on occasion, even Jesus.
“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown. All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. (Luke 4:24, 28-29, NIV)
Let us be sure that our lives never become a rotten rejection letter to Christ.
For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe …They stumble because they disobey the message. (1 Peter 2:6, 7, 8b, NIV)
Prayer- Lord, call us back to you if ever our lives have any chance of becoming rotten rejection letters. Amen.
