Millions are standing in line right this minute, returning the gifts someone bought with such care and cash just for them.
Yes dear giver, everything you spent hours looking for and many dollars buying gets returned to the unknown abyss.
Do you know what happens there? Untold bunches of stuff are taken back to their original store, where they are then sent to some kind of discount place store. (Note: some dishonest returnees try to take the stuff back to a different store in an attempt to get more cash back!) All will be sold for a tiny percentage of original value. Sometimes the stores just throw the stuff out.
How can this be? We are part of the great, save the earth generation aren’t we? Ah no, folks we are only part of saving when it doesn’t cost us anything.
We clamour for cash and we don’t care how or who we walk on to get it. Cash will someday go the way of the dodo. Then what will you crave??
The only thing we can really count on is our one-on-one relationship with the Lord. Thankfully it is non-returnable.
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. (John 1:18, NIV)
Prayer- Lord, help us be keepers of the faith and not try to return it like we did that sweater from Grandma. Amen.
