Returning

Ever attend the most wonderful Christian conference? Oh yeah!  And then, high on our own adrenaline and full of the speaker’s blessed words, we return home… determined to be holy forever and bask in the Lord’s presence…

…Until we hit the door and find…

  1. House in chaos and nothing cleaned, or cooked.
  2. House spotlessly shining and a roast in the oven.

Yes, me too. My reaction to #1 was… they don’t care about me enough to tidy up. My reaction to #2… they don’t need me at all. They managed without me!

Both were silly indeed. But the truth is that after any encounters with God, we all have to return home to the place where we really live.

The shepherds went from Glory to the same old sheep… but note their reaction.

The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. (Luke 2:20, NLT)

Praise? What a great choice.

Prayer – Lord, remind us when we forget—thanks. Amen
