Running Cookies

I determined to run those chocolate chip cookies past this verse.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.(Philippians 4:8, NIV)

Were the cookies true?    Well, they were truly in my hand.

Were they noble? Hardly, they weren’t of royal blood and had no moral standards.

Were they right? I confess that they were definitely not right for me.

Were they pure? Pure; I should say not, full of chemicals and other assorted badnesses.

Were they lovely? I confess they looked pretty good to me.

Were they admirable? It depended on whether I looked at them as they were in my hand or how they would look next week on my hips.

No doubt they were excellent and perhaps even praiseworthy on some standard, but when I considered them in the full light of what they would do to me, I confess I did a couple but I did not eat the whole bag.

When you’re given a box of candy, don’t gulp it all down; eat too much chocolate and you’ll make yourself sick. (Proverbs 25:16, MSG)

Prayer- Lord, thanks for pointing out that thinking first is a great to avoid sin. Amen.
