Malala Yousafzai is the young Pakistani gal the Taliban tried to assassinate in October, 2012. She insists that God has given her a second life. While she is speaking of her physical life, spiritual choices also give a second life.
John 3:16 is the famous quote about that second life in Christ, but here is the conversation that brought it about.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to see Jesus because of the signs and wonders He did.
Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus choked on that statement! Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother’s womb again and be born? (John 3-4, AMP)
We don’t know what he did with Jesus’ next statement.
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
What have we done with it?
Prayer- Lord, we so take you for granted. Forgive us our foolishness. In Christ. Amen.
