Self-Test

Occasionally, we lean too hard on ourselves; but more likely we discount and gloss over our errors. God wants us to check up on ourselves. Have you ever followed these words of advice?

Let us examine and probe our ways, and let us return to the Lord.

(Lamentations 3:40)

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?                             

  (2 Corinthians 13:5)

But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another.

(Galatians 6:4)

But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;

(1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Of course, we might lay low and wait for God to check us out, but be prepared. Eventually, he will. 

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts.

(Psalm 139:23)
