Selfish Love

Selfish people love what they can get from others. Of course, this is not you or I…is it?

Let not your love be selfish, the world is full enough of selfishness.

Because selfish people only think of themselves, that is all they get out of life…themselves

A measure of your selfishness is how much you are willing to give to others.

If you stop thinking of yourself you are suddenly not selfish.

The selfish person wants everything their own way.

The cure for selfishness lies within your own self.

Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. (Galatians 6:7-8, MSG)

Prayer-Lord, where we are selfish, encourage us to love others instead. Amen.
