Artist Simon Beck, from Savoie, France, could no longer run because of foot problems so he took up snow shoeing instead. Then he discovered that instead of mindless rambling, he could create elaborate snow art. You can see some of his creations here.
Sometimes the patterns are as large as three football fields. Sometimes a pattern disappears, unfinished because of winter snows. Still, Simon plods on.
Now here is the thing. He couldn’t do one type of exercise, but instead of complaining, he started to do another. Sometimes he doesn’t get the desired effect but he keeps on anyway. Surely we can apply this kind of stick-to-itiveness to our own life, can’t we?
Go to work in the morning and stick to it until evening without watching the clock. You never know from moment to moment how your work will turn out in the end. (Ecclesiastes 11:6, MSG)
Prayer: Father God, we pray for the gumption to do the tasks you set before us. Amen.
