The grapes were fresh when I bought them but after a few days in my house, they looked a sorry lot. I decided to salvage what I could.
A few stalwarts clung firmly to the vine. Yum! Some were completely detached from the stem, yet seemed still solid and good to eat. A few more days, though and they would be useless.
Still others were semi-attached, yet underneath were quite rotten.
Like those grapes, a few people cling tightly to the vine, Jesus Christ. Some just go through the motions of belonging. Others, semi-attached, hide in disguise for a bit but eventually show their true selves.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matthew 7:20, KJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22, KJV)
Prayer – Lord, please sort our fruit into relationship and obedience. Amen
