Spiritual

When I asked if she went to church, she announced that she did not but that she was ‘very spiritual’! What does that mean? Even witches are ‘spiritual.’ They just spend their time with spirits I don’t care to meet.

The dictionary defines a witch as somebody, especially a woman, who is supposed to have magical or wonder-working powers that are most often used to cause harm to others. The Old Testament frowns on it.

Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (1 Samuel 15:23a, KJV)

But then…so does the New Testament.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:15-21, KJV)

It’s great to be ‘spiritual’ but about what and who are we being ‘spiritual?’

Prayer: Lord, teach us only Your spiritual truth—about the Christ. Amen.
