Spring Ahead

Well, this year in Ontario, we’ve sprung into spring so often that our heads aches. A warm day sparkles ahead of us and we shed our winter coats and pack up our winter boots. Then, tomorrow it snows and we take out our winter coat and our winter boots…and the next day…

You get the idea. We are well into May now and yet every now and then the cold attacks us. Farmers are frustrated. Mothers of little ones despair. We all shiver and then we all roast.

Perhaps God is giving us a taste of our life in weatherly doses. Sweet, warm, pleasant, smiling faces followed by shocking cold, snow and frowns.

My life is like that and I expect yours is as well. I remember one year when we told some church members how great our life was. Ron’s job was good, our daughter was pregnant with our first grandchild; we saw sunshine everywhere.

Then that week, our daughter lost her baby; and some other complications arose in our life. But tis the truth of the matter. In the bad and in the good, God was still with us and we were still with God.

Count your blessings friend, in the happy warm of life or in the winds of cold/

In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. (Matthew 5:45, NLT)
