Steady Plodders

Steady plodding brings prosperity; hasty speculation brings poverty. (Proverbs 21:5, LB)

Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind. (Proverbs 21:5, MSG)

I could tell you “The Tortoise and The Hare” story here, but you already know it. Slow and steady plodding, not giving up, won the race for the tortoise. The story doesn’t mention if the tortoise ever got depressed or even had a bad day.

Right now, I feel rather tortoise-like. I’d like to give up in some areas of my life. What keeps me going? I learned a long time ago that my feelings have no right and no power to make my decisions. They only do that when I let them… by giving up.

Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.(1 Corinthians 16:13-14, MSG)

Plod on, dear friends… plod on.

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14, NIV)

Prayer – Father God, help us not to give up, but instead to move closer to you. Amen
