Sway Bars

The car wasn’t driving just right but when the garage folks fixed something called the sway bar, the whole car worked better. Sort of like when you hurt your big toe, everything feels wonky. The pain keeps you from doing lots of things besides walking.

Sin is our personal sway bar, swaying us away from the God we know and love. We know we are doing wrong and so we try to cover it up. We don’t share our guilt in small group, or confess to our friend or speak to our pastor. That means that lying is added to our other sins.

What do we need to deal with? Why not just deal with it and get it over with? Then we can join in the party heaven is throwing on our behalf.

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.(Luke 15:7, NIV)

Prayer – Help us God, for without you we sway in the wind and lose our way. Amen.
