Today, on Canada’s day of Thanksgiving, let’s recall what God says about giving thanks. Note the repeated words of praise, singing, thankfulness. Today, even just for today, one day, will we be thankful in every part of our day and let God hear our praise?
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, and redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. (Psalm 103:1-4)
Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:6-7)
Give praise. Proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done and proclaim his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. (Isaiah 12:4-5)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Hebrews 12:28)
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. (Psalm 95:1-5)
