We have much to learn from those who have gone before us. Take Hudson Taylor for instance. Taylor founded the China Inland Mission. I became interested in him when I heard that my first Bible teacher, dear Maybeth Gray, and her family worked in China through this mission.
Here are some of Taylor’s favorite quotes.
“There are three stages in the work of God: Impossible; Difficult; Done.” Hudson Taylor
“I am no longer anxious about anything.
I realize the Lord is able to carry out His will, and His will is mine.
It makes no matter where He places me, or how; that is instead for Him to consider than me.
In the most comfortable positions He must give me His grace, and in the most difficult, His grace is sufficient.” ~Hudson Taylor
Hudson Taylor gave his full allegiance to the Bible and the sovereignty of God. He determined to abide wholly in Christ and live a life of faith, joy, prayer, suffering, and obedience.
No doubt he would say to you now….
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:15-16, KJV)
Prayer-Lord, ground us deeply in your truth, as did those who went before us. Amen.
