It’s the little things that irritate us. Don’t you agree? It’s the dishes in the sink, the unmade bed, or a pile of newspapers on the chair.
All the little things gathered together make a bunch of big things that overwhelm us. Let’s tackle them as they occur. Let’s do them when we see them.
Make the bed first thing. Train the family to put their dishes right into the dishwasher. Water that poor plant now, when you see it drooping. Finish the job you started. Make a list of the little things and check them off as you do them. Delegate if you can. For goodness’ sake, stop opening mail and then showing the letter back into the envelope! How crazy is that?
We miss the little things that matter, a kiss on a baby’s cheek, a hug as a child gets on the school bus, or a love note in your spouse’s lunch box.
The little things can warm our hearts or block our creativity. The little things can encourage a heart or irritate us. Which ones will enrich your life? Which ones will destroy it? Life is a series of small things. How will we tackle them?
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ (Matthew 25:21)
