The Season to Be Crying

It’s the season to be jolly. That’s how the song goes anyway. If that is true, why are so many of us in tears through this holiday? Why can we attend events called Blue Christmas or How to get Through the Holidays?

The missing of loved ones should be an event. Some days are worse than others. The length of time holds no sudden recovery. Years after the loss of a dear one, sadness sometimes sneaks in.

And why not, I ask? We loved and pain is the payment for having loved so long and so hard.

I guess it seems silly to you if you haven’t lost a dear one. Why would a bar of sugar-free chocolate set me off? Thankfully, God understands and comforts.

But though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy, for He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men. (Lamentations 3:32-33, AMP)

Prayer- Lord, thank you for understanding our humanness and providing solace for it. Amen.
