Nearly 100 years ago, one of my cousins copied and then placed this verse among a grove of trees he had planted.
"The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, one is nearer God's heart in the garden than anywhere else on earth"–Dorothy Gurney, 1858 – 1932
Dorothy Frances Gurney was an English poet and hymn writer. I wonder if she ever thought of the first line this way. The kiss of the SON for pardon…for Jesus the SON of God, is indeed the one who pardons our sin, if we but ask.
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy (Micah 7:18, NIV).
Prayer- Thank you Lord, that even for the likes of us, you forgive. Amen.
