Threats and Conditions

Lots of Facebook postings are encouraging and Godly, like this prayer.

Father, we thank you for our friends and family. Thank you for joy in the midst of sorrow and thanks for comfort when we are in pain. We are grateful also for your strength when we waver in doubt.

Now isn’t that sweet and lovely? Well, yes…till this line appears.
If you do not share this message terrible things will befall you and your house!

I don’t think so. That is not biblical. However, it is a threat and I don’t fall for threats.

My answer was somewhat along the lines of these three heroes of the Old Testament.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. (Daniel 3:16-17, MSG)

Prayer- Lord, help us know your Word so that we know what is really from you and what is really not. Amen.
