Too Good to Be True

There is some evidence that a pretend paper nest frightens wasps away. Well, it depends on the nest. The one I bought at the hardware store is quite beautiful, perfectly symmetrical, an even gray color. My wasps took one look, fell down laughing and continued to harass the hummingbirds and their feeder. The wasps knew they weren’t capable of such perfection. Months later, I also discovered it when I visited the garden shop. Their pretend wasp nests were uneven in color, size and shape.

At least those wasps were honest. Perfection is rare in this world. I am not perfect and I am willing to bet that you aren’t either. Thankfully, there is One who is.

Deuteronomy 32:4- He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he (NIV).

When we have a personal relationship with his Son Jesus, God is able to see us as perfect because of Jesus’ perfect sacrifice.

Luke 24:41-As he said this, he showed them his hands and feet. They still couldn’t believe what they were seeing. It was too much; it seemed too good to be true (MSG)

Christ died and rose from the dead for us. That’s how we live a life too good to be true.

Matthew 5:48- Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect (NIV).

Prayer: God, like those wasps we recognize our imperfections. We ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior so that we can be perfect in your eyes…Amen.
