I often read scripture, inserting my name into the passages. Here is an example.
Jesus asked Brenda. “How long have you had this?” Brenda answered, “From the time I was a child; but if you can do anything, have pity on me and help me.”
Jesus said, “All things are possible to anyone who believes”. At once, Brenda said, “Lord I believe! Help my weakness of faith.”
Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit. “You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you to come out of her and never go into her again” He took a strong grip on Brenda’s hand and began to lift her up and she stood.
His disciples asked him privately. “Why could we not drive it out?” And he replied. “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.” (From Mark 9:21-29)
This brings the time and place and my circumstances to life. Do the same exercise with the same passage but use several different Bible versions.
