What Do We Care?

On March 16, 45 B.C., Julius Caesar defeated Pompeian forces. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt opened the National Gallery of Art. Golda Meir became the first female Prime Minister of Israel in 1969. Millions of other events happened between these dates; some good and some bad. I guess it’s all random happenings to those of us in the here and now. What do we care?

For that matter, someone somewhere counts the world’s daily births which are said to be about 365,000 per day. Since about 140,000 die each day, the population is increasing at a rate of over 200,000 daily. What do we care?

What do we care about? It is estimated that about 70,000 people die every day without ever hearing about the Lord Jesus Christ. They don’t all live in the Middle East. Some of them are our next door neighbours. What do we care?

Do you not say, it is still four months until harvest time comes? Look! I tell you, raise your eyes and observe the fields and see how they are already white for harvesting.(John 4:35, AMP)

Prayer – Lord, make us sensitive to our own particular fields… Amen
