The headlines rave over the fact that Niagara Falls has frozen over. Big deal; this is not the first time. As newly-weds so often do, we went there on our honeymoon and enjoyed the same spectacle. When the weather is cold, ice floes and giant icicles form in the area.
History tells us that the ice below the falls was sometimes so thick that people travelled across it to Canada, or vice versa, to the United States. Even at its most frozen, a trickle of water continues to flow.
Take heart. When those around you seem cold, hard and frozen toward the things of God, remember there is always a trickle of the Spirit working in their lives.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:8, KJV)
Prayer – Father, we rejoice as your Spirit works in our lives, and also in the lives of those around us. Amen.
