Who can you trust? Moses trusted his closest friends and advisors to follow his instructions; to do what he asked. After all, he was obeying God and he took it for granted that they would too.
God said to Moses, “Climb higher up the mountain and wait there for me. So Moses got up, accompanied by Joshua his aide. And Moses climbed up the mountain of God.
He told the elders of Israel, “Wait for us here until we return to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you; if there are any problems, go to them.” (From Exodus 24:12-14, NIV)
And look what happened…While Moses is getting Godly advice for his people, the people are up to no good.
When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”(Exodus 32:1, NIV)
Can your friends, family, spiritual leaders, your God, the Holy God of Israel… trust you?
Prayer – Father God, we are often foolish, lazy and self- serving. Help us be your obedient servants. Amen
