According to Luke 9:18-19, the crowds believed that Christ was someone already risen from the dead!
… he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”
Isn’t it odd that they believed Christ to be someone raised from the dead, yet when he actually did, even those nearest and dearest to him did not believe?
… he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. (Mark 16:14b, NIV)
That leaves us with this question on Easter Sunday. “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” (Luke 9:20a, NIV)
Prayer– Lord, may we answer like Peter did. “You are God’s Messiah.” (Luke 9:20, NIV)
