We live in a quiet community abounding with birds, squirrels, and bunny rabbits. Unfortunately, construction around us brings the next critter up the food chain. Now we also have a slew of foxes, coyotes, and the occasional wolf.
The bunnies did not terrorize us, but the new visitors bring new fears. We’ve been warned not to leave our animals unattended and to carry sticks and flashlights.
If we encounter an animal, we are to keep our distance. (No disagreement from me!) We are not to approach them. (I don’t need to be told twice!) We must not turn our back or run. (I expect to be paralyzed with fear!)
Another hint? Make yourself big. Scream and holler, wave your arms. (The same arms full of sticks, flashlights, and dogs! Oh, AND at the same time, call 911!!)
Now, use all that advice when the devil comes calling.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
