Yield to One Another

One of my family started calling any of my little habits into question. For instance if I couldn’t find something, they’d say… “Hey, strike one for the home, three strikes you are out.”

Everyone thought it quite funny. Friends and strangers alike would laugh. I however, found it very hurtful and I mentioned it to plenty of my friends. I was falling into sin and resenting this person. (See Leviticus 19:17)

Finally, I called the person on it; actually I texted this remark.

“These comments might be funny to you,” I said, “but I find them quite hurtful.”

Immediately, they responded with… “I am so sorry. I will never say that again.”

Finally it was out in the open with no resentment or bad feelings of any kind between us.

If your brother wrongs you, go and show him his fault, between you and him privately. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. (Matthew 18:15, AMP)

What thoughts are you harbouring and sharing with the wrong folks?

Prayer – Father, help us always to follow your direction in your Word. Amen
