Covid-19 left us with some interesting side-effects. We have cleaner houses, more babies on the way and even more cash because we haven’t been able to spend it. Many families have lost loved ones in painful ways. We will be dealing with these things for a long time.
But the effects of zoom and various other associated on line sites left us looking more real than we ever intended. Their cameras are brutal. The world now sees my wrinkles, flaws and expressions in a more exposed way. The world knows I haven’t decorated much or that the back wall needs painting or that a little dusting wouldn’t hurt. Our children have interrupted our business calls with their smiling faces.
I could go on but you know what I mean. The only bright spot is that I have never trained the camera on my hips and so the world still thinks that they are size ten. (In my dreams!)
Zoom shows who we are. Just as God in our lives begins to reveal the not so nice parts of us, so God brings to our minds and hearts, his goal is to change us, while zoom only exposes us.
Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ. Wake up from your sleep, climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light! So, watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! (Ephesians 5:11-16, MSG)
Prayer- Lord we see what we are. Show us ourselves through your eyes and help us live that way. Amen.
