Number 153 is a fascinating study. There are all kinds of guesses to its meaning but the disciples would have clearly understood it.
Each letter in the Hebrew alphabet has a numerical value. 153 is the triangular number of 17. The triangular number is 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13+14+15+16+17=153
The number 153 is the numerical total for the Hebrew phrase Ani Elohim, which means “I am God”.
Some say its triangular number 17 is a combination of the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit and the 10 commandments, or triangular meaning Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The number 153 is used everywhere from frequency to military terms. Just because we don’t understand it, doesn’t mean that it’s not important. After all, why would they have counted the fish? Do fishermen do that with a huge catch? Not likely.
