How is it that John is able to say this? Can’t he count?
This was now the third time that Jesus revealed Himself (appeared, was manifest) to the disciples after He had risen from the dead. (John 21:14, AMP)
Remember John is writing about his own experiences with Christ. He says this is the third time Jesus met with the disciples. So, he doesn’t mention these in his count.
Mary at the tomb, (John 20:11-18, Mark 16:9-11)
The other women at the tomb. (Matthew 28:8-10)
The disciples on the road to Emmaus, (Mark 16:12-13, Luke 24:13-32)
Peter. (Luke 24:33-35, 1 Corinthians 15:5)
Eleven disciples and others. (Luke 24:36-49)
Ten disciples…Thomas is not there. (John 2019-25)
The Eleven Disciples, including Thomas. (Mark 6:14, John 20:26-29)
John’s account of the seven disciples. (John 21:1-25)
The eleven see Jesus and get commissioned. (Matthew 28:16-20, Mark 16:15-18)
The crowd of 500 plus. (1 Corinthians 15:6)
James. (1 Corinthians 15:7)
The eleven disciples. (Mark 16:19, Luke 24:50-52)
Finally, to Paul. (Acts 9:3-5, 22:7-8, 26:14-16)
And no doubt there are other times of which we are unaware. Jesus is all that he says he is. And its time that you faced this truth for yourself.
