The magic of 168 is that it is the number of hours each of us have in one week. Some of us use them wisely; some of us totally waste them and some of us are in the middle somewhere.
Do we invest our time or just spend it? As it is with money, so it is with time. Investments pay off. Spending just means both time and money simply disappear with little to show for it.
How we spend our time indicates what our real priorities are. For example, if you overeat all week, then it is obvious that eating is more important to you than being at a healthy weight.
A centipede was happy quite- until a frog, in fun,
Said, “Pray which leg comes after which.”
This raised her mind to such a pitch
That she lay distracted in a ditch,
Considering how to run! (Katherine Craster 1871)
Is that you? Is your life so muddled that you get sidetracked and thus accomplish nothing? As Will Rogers said, “Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there!”
How will you spend your 24 today?
How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. (Proverbs 6:9-11)
